About Griffin brothers

Our Story

Hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, the Griffin Brothers—Alex and Ricky—are a Canadian country music duo celebrated for blending the rich nostalgia of ‘90s country with a fresh, modern energy. Both brothers grew up in a musical household, absorbing legends like Keith Whitley, Travis Tritt, and Joe Diffie from a very young age. Their stage debut came at just two years old, and by high school they ventured into pop-punk before returning to their roots in 2018, inspired by the resurgence of traditional country sounds.

Classically trained multi-instrumentalists, Alex (brass, drums, guitar, piano) and Ricky (timpani, xylophone, drums, guitar) honed their craft at Eastwood Collegiate Institute. Their 2019 debut single, “Rust On It,” garnered over 20,000 streams and climbed into SiriusXM’s Top 40. In 2021, their summer hit “Beer Happy” swept across Canadian radio and playlists in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Quebec . That same year, the duo received early recognition in the first round of voting for CMA Ontario’s “Group or Duo of the Year”.

Now working on their debut EP and gearing up with new singles—including the upcoming “Don’t Settle,” written by prominent songwriters and produced by CMAO-nominated Shawn Moore—the Griffin Brothers deliver high-energy, harmony-rich country tunes crafted for summer drives, lakeside hangs, and festival stages.

Ricky & Alex

Alex and Ricky Griffin aren’t just brothers—they’re lifelong collaborators whose bond is woven into every note they play. Born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, in a multi-generational country music family, they were practically born with guitars in hand and a song on their lips . Onstage by age two, they experimented with pop-punk as teens before falling back in love with the classic country tunes of their childhood.

Their formal training at Eastwood Collegiate Institute helped them master a variety of instruments—Alex on brass, guitar, piano, and drums; Ricky on percussion, xylophone, and guitar. Beyond raw talent, what makes them relatable is their journey: two brothers discovering their true sound through trial and error, leaning into their heritage while embracing fresh influences like Luke Combs, Zac Brown Band, and Chris Stapleton.

Offstage, Alex and Ricky are genuine extroverts who have noted they’ll happily “chat your ear off for at least an hour” and have even included fun quirks—like Alex’s stint selling Vans (shoes, not cars!) and Ricky’s nickname “Snakeman”—in interviews. Their warm, down-to-earth personalities—combined with their drive for personal growth, evident in their music evolution and sincerity—make them effortlessly likable and deeply relatable for fans.
